Mess Dinner

Mess Dinner We once again celebrated nearing the end of our training year with a mess dinner for the cadets and staff. We were honoured to have three mem-bers of our affiliated unit, 408 Tactical Helicopter Squadron, in attendance. Our Cadet Liai-son Officer, Capt David Parker, a representative of the Opera-tions Section, 2Lt Keyser, and our Guest of Honour, Capt Alexia Shore. Capt Shore shared her experiences in Afghanistan, including some pictures and a video she made. All three guests furthered the cadets’ education and understanding of mess dinners by adding what I am sure will be some long standing traditions at 570 mess dinners!

Parent Sponsoring Committee News

The Parent Sponsoring Committee is the main sponsor / supporter of our squadron. Mrs. Tracy Doherty is the Chairperson of the Committee. The squadron needs the support of the Parent Sponsoring Committee to augment our training and run our optional activities, including activities like our March Break trip to Ontario. We ask that all parents / guardi-ans do what they can to support the Committee. Whether you can be on the executive, volunteer for specific activities or just show your support by attending the monthly meetings; the Parent Sponsoring Committee needs you. Parents / guardians who would like more information are asked to email Tracy Doherty at otsdoherty@shaw.ca.
It is also important that all parents / guardians contact Mrs. Doherty about Air Cadet League screening. Just like most schools and other youth organizations all our volunteers (including parents / guardians) need to be screened; even to participate in activities like driving cadets around on Poppy Day. Without screened volunteers we will be unable to participate in some currently planned activities. We thank you in advance for your cooperation in this.
